Indecent exposure

Must say, we did expect more of an effort from those stalwart, weather-worn Brits. First-timer @Stdismas sent this not-quite-broken castaway to us from London.

Huddled in shame

Who knows what shape our broken umbrella was in before it was launched against the wall and slid into its final resting place. Particularly painful.

Another great shot from @StuartYoung in London

De-capitated

And another!
I may have lost my head, but you, you my human friend have anger management issues.

A warm welcome to new bumber shooter, @StuartYoung who found this discard on Chestnut Grove, Balham, London

Triptych

Look, I know I've had a bit of a downward spiral lately, but I'd appreciate a little privacy for my martyring.

No?

Still no?

I see then.

Special thanks to London correspondent @RobinBogg for chronicling this lost cause.

Travels & travails

Thanks to @Robinbogg's stellar eye, for the first time, we're highlighting a subject unceremoniously marching toward... toward what? Let's find out.

Our subject takes shelter.

"Gamely battling on", updates @RobinBogg. A rescue/getaway vehicle is in site!

Pain within reach? Sadly, we'll never know, as this was the last we ever saw of our willful friend. Rest well.

And great coverage from Robin!

Don't look back in anger

Our favorite British 'brolly-hunter Robin sends this groupie to us from last weekend's festival in Dorset, England.

That's the Stratford youth court there in the background. Special thanks to our British umbrella colleague Robin!

De-fence wins championships

Although it didn't seem like quite the fair fight.

This is the first of 3 we'll be posting from new friend Robin, fellow champion of the brolly from London! Three cheers to the Internet for bringing like minds together.

Coverage

A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.
Oscar Wilde

When we first discovered Ms. Fiona Long (and frankly, we don't remember how. Kismet?), she was in the process of collecting broken brollys for an art project. Well we're happy to report that the project is now complete and available for your viewing here. Congratulations, Fiona!

And if we may add two personal observations: If that's what Londoner's call "broken," we certainly expect a lot more photographs coming from your side of the pond. Also, you have much more fascinating choices for umbrellas.

Yesterday's news

Our Twitter friend Vaughan found this brolly near Earl's Court in London. Thanks Vaughan!

Re-constructed

Well now here's one of the coolest things we've discovered barreling down the information superhighway (still, great phrase).

Meet Fiona Long, an artist from London, who collects broken umbrellas and turns them into sculptures. It might be awkward to say we love Fiona, but since she's bazillions of miles away and doesn't have to worry about us showing up to go 'brolly hunting, we'll just go ahead and say it. Love.

Check out her amazing work here. All the best and thanks for the cross post, kindered spirit Fiona. Looking forward to future a picture here that becomes a sculpture there.

Epitaph

Kate, via Twitter (and you ask why ppl would embrace such a silly service), was kind enough to take this picture before dropping her deceased brolly in the hotel bin. She says it passed just as the heavens opened, so we quite admire her dedication in not chucking it immediately in frustration.

Kate, we're sorry for your loss, and hope that better coverage is in your near future. Thanks for thinking of Better Off Soaked!

Check her out here, and here! Oh, and PS, we've officially joined the Twitterverse, read what it's like to be an abused accessory with a bit of a PR problem, here.

American Reader Jenna snapped this 'brolly while on holiday in London. Thanks peach!
