Quite a tragically quotidian ending for such a sartorial styling, n'est-ce pas?

1 - 2 - 3. 3 umbrellas AHAHA!

Reader Jen writes*:

If you look close enough, you can see that there are THREE umbrellas sticking in that pole there.  I first thought someone was selling them, but didn't see anyone hanging out close enough for me to think that.  also, is that a trash bag just hanging out?  SO. CONFUSED.  THOSE LOOK LIKE GOOD UMBRELLAS!

Anyway, somewhere's near 15th and Sansom in Philly, taken this weekend...

*an awesome title, too

Glory days

In short: you'll start out dreaming of greatness. Maybe becoming Diddy's best accessory or an art installation. But you'll just work and work and work, occasionally going to ladies houses on Fridays after they put their kids to bed, but mostly going back and forth to the plant assembly line for 20 years. Then one day it will hit you that time has slipped away and left you with nothing... but pouring stories.

Jen's first from the Asbury Park Relay Marathon, taking while she was waiting to start her leg. (!)

This hard land

The second snapped by our Jersey Shore correspondent @jerseyshore after running in the Asbury Park Relay Marathon.

Our subject clearly did not put enough into training, and is NOT invited to pack its bags and meet me tonight down at Liberty Hall.

My descent into despondency

It was a tough day for me in California. Not my finest hour(s), but you have to admire my friends' persistence here. That's teamwork.

This is your life

Oh no, no it couldn't be!

We all have a few skeletons in our proverbial closet, and here's mine, which Andrea seems to have unearthed in a vintage clothing store.

What can I say - it was the 80s, I was living on the Lower East Side with this dancer chick who was trying to make a go of it on the punk scene. She wanted to shed her Midwest look and this peach was headed for the goodwill pile before I rescued it. Why she thought cone bras were an improvement over this, I'll never know, but I'd been trying to break into the accessory scene for a few years at that point to no avail myself. I often wondered what happened to her. Ok dancer, but not much of a voice. I wore it exactly once, on a blind date with this guy who painted cartoony graffiti figures. Turns out he was gay.
