Remember Fiona? Well she recently sent us an email saying she'd just returned from a trip to Tokyo, and while she was there... yup, you got it, she thought of US! We're verklempt over here. Tokyo! Vacation!

She goes on to explain that any left-behind umbrellas in lobbys or metro stations are quickly collected by the homeless, and she was lucky enough to see why and where they go. What a grand re-use, and wonderful perspective from a new locale.

@Jewelsann tells us that she'd just finished a photo shoot when she and the model realized they left their prop behind. Before walking back to retrieve it, she was compelled to snap this shot. Some time later she was chatting with a Twitter friend who knew of this blog; she says the first thing she thought of was this shot.

These two randy little buggers were sent in via cellphone from reader Kim in Boston. She interrupted them fraternizing in an unnamed corner in the North End. But the real scandal is that this is the second submission we've received of abandoned fancy golf-type 'brellas and we're pretty sure we didn't receive the memo. Will check spam screener.

Reporting for duty

Reader Meghan from Charleston, South Carolina, tells us that it's been raining for the better part of the week, except the evening that this hard-working soldier was abandoned by its owner at the Carolina Yacht Club. Look at the stance: tall, proud, waiting to be called up for duty, while the owner ties one on at the bar. The forgotten umbrella is one of my favorite captures.



Let's hope when someone sobered up this morning, they called the lost and found. With so many shitty umbrellas out there, we can't afford to lose the good ones so easily. (Full disclosure: I've left at least 3 umbrellas at bars in the course of my life)
