Oh snap, guess what I saw

Was the exact subject line of the email sent by our umbrellarazzi, jason.

A happy and safe New Year to all umbrellas and bumber shooters, and all the best in 2010!

Never seem to see you for the good times

Well.

When @Parkview popped this one into our inbox we didn't think anything of it. And then yesterday's post went up from http://broken-umbrellas.blogspot.com/2009/12/if-aliens-were-to-come-down-to-earth.html">@BellaFoxx, so when we came back to this one, the location sounded familiar.

"Found at the foot of the pulaski bridge. 11 st and jackson ave in queens." he wrote us.

A full week after @BellaFoxx sent us hers. Is the Doppler radar giving you this kind of hard-hitting trend weather journalism? We'll be thinking of our catchy weather person nickname while you type your answer

If aliens were to come down to earth

And land next to this trash can, here's what they would learn about New Yorkers.

*McDonald's
*Parliament
*Coffee
*Losing scratch-off lottery tickets
*Broken umbrellas

Confidential to all alien readers - this one's free.
PS - any interest in taking Heidi & Spencer Pratt?

Special thanks to @BellaFoxx who found this study on the corner of Jackson Street and the Pulaski Bridge, Long Island City.

Wrong turn only

Reader @Jpstamm tells us she and her husband found this wounded soldier outside their hotel on Houston and Allen Streets (tear!), and right after snapping the shot a samaritan came along, picked it up and walked off.

Thanks for the shot!

J'adore!

We treated ourselves to our muse's fashion tome and are savoring each page with the left thumb while our other greedily scales the stack that awaits our discovery. Imagine our delight when this beauty revealed itself early on. One can only guess where Mr. Schuman will take us from here. Enjoy.

Isn't this a spot?
As they say: sunshine is fine,
But liquor, quicker.

So close

We have heard that in fine Cuban restaurants a glass of water is served to cleanse the palate. This is not the same.

Special thanks to first-timer and Facebook friend, Erin, who captured this corpse outside her "favorite Cuban joint" in the East Village. Welcome, Erin! WHAT? you're not a fan of Better Off Soaked yet?

Life less complicated

Or so someone thought.

Second life

When @BellaFoxx sent us her first snap of this pic, it looked like a simple subway victim.

A few days later she sends us an updated photo, featuring our fella brought back to... er... life with a purpose?

Crowd, source

@SweenIT sends the second in our new "Motherload" series. This spotted in Brooklyn's Park Slope.

The love apple

You can just tell this was a well-loved accessory. However, whatever statement it made, is now retracted.

90 degrees

We're not sure, but this looks like a complete fracture, plus an onlooker over there by the trashcan. Tough day for everyone involved.

Travels & travails

Thanks to @Robinbogg's stellar eye, for the first time, we're highlighting a subject unceremoniously marching toward... toward what? Let's find out.

Our subject takes shelter.

"Gamely battling on", updates @RobinBogg. A rescue/getaway vehicle is in site!

Pain within reach? Sadly, we'll never know, as this was the last we ever saw of our willful friend. Rest well.

And great coverage from Robin!
