Keep out

Something about this one just seems particularly depressing, as if dropped slyly while the owner was on the move.

Another terrific shot from Chayoung!

Such great heights

Yield to oncoming
'Brollies, broken and blowing
Green, Yell, red. Stop rain.

Our friend Annaleeb spotted this traffic jam in Northampton, England, and sent it in a snap via Twitter. You just never know!

Cameo

What can we say? We're completely humbled by 1st-time submitter Drenen's quick reflexes in submitting our first movie appearance. Confession, we're not familiar with the film, but in IMDB'ing the synopsis, sounds like a broken umbrella was the least of this guy's troubles.

Thanks, Drenen!

Minimalism

Remember Fiona? Well she recently sent us an email saying she'd just returned from a trip to Tokyo, and while she was there... yup, you got it, she thought of US! We're verklempt over here. Tokyo! Vacation!

Where first she found this:

And then this:

She goes on to explain that any left-behind umbrellas in lobbys or metro stations are quickly collected by the homeless, and she was lucky enough to see why and where they go. What a grand re-use, and wonderful perspective from a new locale.

Thanks Fiona!

Unsuspecting

STOP AND BRELLA LIVES
GIVE ME THE IPOD, MAN. AND
DONT CALL THE POLICE.

@Jewelsann tells us that she'd just finished a photo shoot when she and the model realized they left their prop behind. Before walking back to retrieve it, she was compelled to snap this shot. Some time later she was chatting with a Twitter friend who knew of this blog; she says the first thing she thought of was this shot.

We love hearing from new readers, and about readers thoughtful enough to talk about us! Heart. Bursting!

Thanks so much for sharing, Julie!

Picture in Picture

Here at Better Off Soaked, we're all about observing the unique within everyday objects. So perhaps the only thing that surprised us about today's post is how long it took us to see something wholly different in one of our sad, beautiful broken umbrellas. Do you see it too?

How was your trip to Philly?

Dear tourists: thanks for
walking! Not thanks for litter-
ing. With love, Philly.

@sawinkler stumbled upon this carnage in Queen Village last weekend. So much fantastic in one shot!

If it bleeds, it leads

If it pours, it sours.
Oh wait. Damn English language.
If it rains, it pains.

I passed this one at 22nd and Fairmount Monday morning on my way to work. It was still there Monday evening.
